The Law College was founded in 2006 and is one of the most prestigious law colleges in West Bengal. The Faculty of Law is located in the heart of durgapur city and is very well connected by road and rail. The college was founded under the auspices of the Durgapur Social and Educational Trust. The Trust founded the institution with a valuable desire to provide legal education, which is a very important step towards legal awareness and empowerment of the weak and unsupported in society. The college is currently affiliated with Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol and recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. Since 2006, he has directed both the three-year LL.B course and the two-year LL.B course. The College has a Board of Trustees duly formed by the Durgapur Social and Educational Trust. Sri Subrata Mitra is the Executive Director of the Board of Directors. All members of the Board of Directors are accomplished academics, legal luminaries, management experts and personalities of exceptional importance in the public sector. The Board of Directors meets regularly four times a year to evaluate and discuss the academic and administrative work of the Durgapur Institute of Legal Studies (DILS), Durgapur offers 3 years of full-time Bachelor of Laws (LLB). The College, an institution for the promotion of legal education, is managed by the DURGAPUR SOCIAL AND EDUCATION TRUST (DSET).
