In 1932, Charles Taft Hanaway, a native of Green Bay, began practicing law after graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Law in Green Bay. His legal practice was interrupted in 1942 while he was a special agent with the FBI. He returned to Green Bay in 1945 and founded the law firm of Hanaway and Byrnes with Congressman John Byrnes. Allan Ross joined the company in 1963. While other lawyers joined the firm over time, Charlie and Al continued to practice together as lawyers until Charlie`s retirement in 1989.
