Participants will receive a certificate of completion for a 40-hour EM 385-1-1 issued by the Chesapeake Region Security Council, as well as a 30-hour OSHA construction card. 7) The OHSS of a Toxic Hazardous Waste (HTRW) site must have completed 40 hours of HTRW training that meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120/29 CFR 1926.65 for 40-hour initial training, 8-hour supervisor training, and 8-hour annual updates. This training is commonly referred to as hazwoper 40-hour training. EM 385-1-1 is a 930-page document that cannot be easily summarized. It refers to both 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926, but in some cases it has stricter requirements. It covers topics such as program management, medical and first aid care, personal protective and safety equipment, hazardous or toxic substances and environments, material handling, rigging, fall protection, confined spaces and 26 other topics. 3) USACE will appoint Collateral Duty Security Officers (CSOs), whose training must also include a 30-hour OSHA General Construction Course on General Industry of 30 hours. The CSDO must participate in safety and health training for at least 24 hours per year. 4) First aid companions must have first aid and CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. 1) The Contractor Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) at a USACE project site must have completed an OSHA 30 Hour General Industry or OSHA 30-Hour Construction course. 6) First aid caregivers who need to use an AED must be trained for the model and manufacturer of the AED unit available to them. These documents are intended for creation and use in the field where the employees involved are located. They are NOT intended to be company documents or only bids. Ideally, workers involved in the work should develop the AHA(s), as they usually have the technical expertise to know the process and the hazards involved.
