Are there any qualifications for admission to the bar that I should know before starting law school? There is character, fitness and other qualifications for admission to the bar, according to the American Bar Association. Applicants should learn what these requirements are in the states they want to practice before enrolling in law school. Admission to the Faculty of Law does not necessarily mean that a candidate is certified by the competent judicial authorities as having the necessary status and ability to practise law. If Rutgers is your first choice of law school, you can apply as an early decision candidate. Series 1 Applicants for an advance ruling will receive a decision by January 1. Applicants for Advance Ruling Round 2 will receive a decision by April 1. The early decision option is binding: a candidate agrees to attend Rutgers Law School if admitted. Accordingly, Rutgers Law School conducts a comprehensive holistic review of each applicant`s qualifications. This includes your UGPA and LSAT score, but also the evidence you provide us regarding your motivation, determination and ability to overcome adversity. The first of its kind, Rutgers Law Associates is a one-year postdoctoral fellowship program that trains new law graduates who offer legal services to New Jersey residents at a significantly discounted price. Current law students who have completed at least two semesters of law school are invited to apply for a transfer. Rutgers accepted transfers in the spring and fall. If you wish to request a transfer, please follow the instructions on the LSAC website. Do I need to take the LSAT? All applicants for admission must complete the LSAT, which is offered nine times a year, and register with the Credential Gathering Service (CAS). If there are multiple scores, the highest score will be the most weighted. Although you can enroll in law school before the LSAT, your file cannot be reviewed by the admissions committee until it is complete, including the LSAT score. What are the approval standards? A candidate is assessed based on a number of factors, including whether the individual is likely to succeed, whether they would receive legal training at Rutgers Law, and what contributions they would make as a member of the Bar Association to the legal profession and the public.

In addition, students from Rutgers University, Rowan University, Moravian College, Peirce College, and Westchester University may be eligible to accelerate their legal careers through the BA/JD program. What can I expect in my first year of study and in the graduate school program? First-year students can choose between a full-time day program or a part-time evening program. A special admission program is available for international lawyers who earn a J.D. In Camden, accredited students can enroll in Summer Jump Start, a summer course that allows them to take one less course in the fall. Students in the upper class have many opportunities to participate in hands-on learning through legal clinics, pro bono projects, advocacy teams, and internships. In addition, there are certificate programs in corporate and business law, criminal law, and family law that allow students to develop expertise in a specific area.
